Add to WishlistThis little Native American parfleche box is adorable. Made in 1996 from rawhide. It’s painted in black, dark green, red and yellow. It’s 3 inches wide, 1.75 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep.
A parfleche is a Native American container that is made from rawhide that when wet is formed into a container. When dried it is embellished by painting and/or incising.
Envelope-shaped parfleches have been used to store items such tools or foods. They were usually made in pairs and hung from saddles. Parfleche containers in square or rectangular shapes were also used to hold items.
